Spied: 2013 Citroën C4 Picasso

Citroën has begun testing the second-generation C4 Picasso in Northern Sweden.

Despite the check-board disguise covering the vehicle from head-to-toe, the newcomer’s styling won’t be as avant-garde as the 2011 model as smooth surfaces and straight lines dominate the side profile.

Spied: 2013 Vauxhall/Opel Astra facelift

Spies have caught the 2013 Vauxhall/Opel Astra facelift undisguised outside the marque's German R&D facility.

Updates to the popular compact car will be minor but easily recognisable. Up front, there's a new bonnet, revised grille with chrome bar, black plastic insert on lower grille, and restyled fog light housings. The rear sports a restyled bumper with a chrome highlight and updated tail-lights with a clear-lensed reversing light.

Spied: 2013 Volkswagen XL1

After confirming the XL1 concept for production last month, Volkswagen has already begun testing the eco-focused XL1 in Northern Sweden.

The two-seater supermini is free from any heavy disguise, allowing spectators to see the production model in its full glory.

Trapped: Audi R8 Coupé snowed under

Russian winters are known to be ferocious, leaving no stone unturned.

Caught in the path was this Audi R8 Coupé in the Russian city of Nizhny Novgorod. Whether the owner was unable to free the car from the snow, deliberately neglected the vehicle, or lost it under 3ft of snow remains a mystery.

Spied: Subaru Forester

The third-generation of the Subaru Forester compact SUV has been spied testing on public roads for the very first time.

The new Forester, due in 2014, will sit on the same platform as the XV - itself underpins a modified Impreza platform – and as such, will borrow design cues off the compact crossover. Up front, the trapezoidal grille is partially disguised, while the greenhouse sees the A-pillars placed further forward for increased interior room.

European car sales fall 10%, hits French, Italian, and Japanese companies

New car sales have dropped by nearly 10% in February, hitting mainstream European manufactures the hardest.

Epic losers in the worst single month for European sales since Autumn 2010 were PSA Peugeot-Citroën, Opel/Vauxhall, Renault, Fiat S.p.A, Suzuki, and Mazda. On the astir were Mini, Chevrolet, Mercedes, Kia, Jaguar, and Land Rover, all making remarkable sales gains.

Following Volkswagen's alleged meddling with German carbon dioxide graphs, Daimler has come under heavy fire for reportedly tinkering with information.

Volkswagen CEO nearly doubles yearly income

If Volkswagen is contending to become the best-selling car manufacture globally by 2018, it needs to pay its CEO top-dollar to keep him happy. So, it's unsurprising to hear that the head of the Volkswagen Automotive Group, Martin Winterkorn pocketed $23 million (£14.6m/€17.6m) in fixed salary, bonuses, and profit incentives, nearly doubling his wages from the year prior.

According to Bloomberg, Winterkorn was paid around $12.2 million (£7.8m/€9.3m) by VW in 2010.

Teaser: 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe

Hyundai has released a series of teaser photos of the upcoming Santa Fe mid-sized SUV, ahead of its world debut at the New York International Motor Show in April.

The Santa Fe's styling debuts an evolution of the “Fluidic Sculpture” theme, called “Storm Edge”. The third-generation Santa Fe features svelte and refined lines, which are in harmony with bold and large surfaces, giving a more aggressive look than its forerunner.

Break down: Cristiano Ronaldo's Lamborghini Aventador Coupé breaksdown in city centre

To celebrate his 27th birthday last month, Cristiano Ronaldo treated himself to a Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4. However, the novelty and happiness was lived short as a few days ago, the Raging Bull broke-down while the footballer was driving through downtown Madrid.

Ronaldo was on his way to Real Madrid's team-mate Pepe's birthday when the black Aventador came to a sudden halt on a road. He called his assistants, who arranged a cab for him and a recovery truck.

Spied: 2014 Maserati Quattroporte

For the first time, spies have snapped a full-bodied prototype of the next-generation Maserati Quattroporte undergoing cold-weather testing in Northern Sweden. The prototype was caught outside the Colmis test centre, where Fiat, GM, other manufactures, and more namely, Haldex test their products.

Despite the thick cladding and fake body panels, it's clear that the next Quattroporte will depart from its sedan bodystyle, evolving into a five-door fastback executive vehicle. The new look aims to give the Quattroporte a more upscale look to place the range-topping versions in what Maserati calls the “super-luxury portion of the G-segment”.

Miley Cyrus gets fined for parking in disabled bay

Photos of Miley Cyrus parking in a disabled bay have made their rounds on the blogs.

The Hannah Montana star parked her white Mercedes SL550 in a disabled bay before attending a pilates class in Los Angeles. Cyrus now faces a fine of $325 (£205/€246) for parking illegally, but many that claim it was a mistake, explaining the Miley has a big heart and wouldn’t do it deliberately. Her friends even offer examples of her kindness, with the most recent seeing her and a friend rescuing an Alaskan Klee Kai dog.

Video: Teen driver causes multi-car accident

Driving a prestigious and powerful car comes with responsibility. But unfortunately, you will get the handful of irresponsible fools who let power overrule their head.

One is this 19 year old man who caused a crash that injured five people and damaged multiple vehicles. Named locally as Mansur Abdullaev, the youngster was driving his Bentley in Moscow, Russia and reportedly lost control after pushing the car too hard through a junction. The vehicle then hit a Subaru Impreza WRX STI, with the impact causing a domino effect.

Video: Lada sedan skids off highway

Driving at high-speed around snow is never a good idea. Even though the road may be free from snow, black ice can always be lurking around. We imagine that's what this Lada driver hit when travelling on the motorway in Russia.

Prior to the incident, the sedan moved over from another lane into the slow lane at high-speed and eventually lost control of the car, plunging into snow and landing on its side. And before you know it, there's an abundance of SUV owners pulling over and assisting.

Spied: 2013 Mercedes S-Class and GL-Class

Spies have caught the next-generation Mercedes S-Class luxury sedan undergoing final cold-weather testing in Northern Sweden, wearing minimal disguise.

Gone are the prototype bolt-on rear lights, thick coating on the side profile, and fake bodypanels, revealing more details like the LED rear lights, chrome grille, and front bumper with curvy fog-light surrounds.

Video: Škoda Octavia goes skating...into a ditch!

After the break, you will see a video of a Škoda Octavia hatchback landing into a snow ditch. This is because the driver brazenly overtook three vehicle (as did the following car in which the was footage recorded) and attempted to sneak back into their lane.

Due to lying snow and ice, the driver lost control and ploughed through a snowbank and into a ditch.

Volkswagen Polo becomes best-selling car in Europe (EU)

While the future of car sales in Europe looks bleak for most manufacturers, a few are rejoicing thanks to increased sales, especially Volkswagen.

The German brand's B-Segment contender, the Polo supermini, became the best-selling car in Europe for 2011.
