Photo Gallery: 2013 Fiat 500L

Fiat has detailed the new 500L sub-compact MPV, ahead of first European deliveries in October 2012.

Based on the Punto platform, which dates back to 2005, the 500L is available in four trim-levels, with three different powertrain options, two transmissions, and numerous options.

At 4,100mm long, 1,784mm wide, 1,665mm tall, and with a 2,612mm wheelbase, the 500L has a plausible 400 litres of luggage capacity behind the rear seats.

Practically, the rear seats are longitudinally adjustable and separately folding to increase rear passenger comfort. Thanks to the ‘Fold&Tumble’ function, it’s possible to completely tilt the rear seat forwards to get a totally flat load compartment.

The four grades, Pop, Pop Star, Easy and Lounge, are well-equipped but can be outfitted with numerous options.

For the Italian market, the base Pop model features 15” steel wheels, front electric windows, six airbags, ESC, hill-start assist, body-coloured bumpers and door handles, height adjustable driver’ seat and height/reach adjustable steering wheel.

Lower mid-spec Pop Star is equipped with 16” grey gloss alloy wheels, electrically-adjustable/heated door mirrors, body-coloured door mirrors, side protective mouldings, cruise control, and air-conditioning.

Upper mid-spec Easy adds 16” steel wheels, leather steering wheel and gearknob, and UConnect 5” touchscreen with Bluetooth.

The range-topping Lounge is lavished with 16” grey gloss alloy wheels, accessorised front seats, rear electric windows, automatic climate control, front fog lights, and rain/light sensor.

The exterior of the 500L is designed to stand out from the crowd, with bug-like headlights, curvaceous lines, and a “beautiful and functional design house” lends a retro and contemporary look.

The colour range, with no less than 11 body colours, is segment leading and customers get a 333 possible combinations if 3 different roof colours, four trim levels, and 3 alloy rim colours are added. Upto 140 accessories are available and the cabin has 1,500 possible colour combinations, allowing customers to freely express themselves.

The 1.5 sq.ft glass roof - the largest in its category – floods the cabin with natural light and is available in two options – Skydome and electrically-retractable.

At launch, a 70kW (95bhp/96PS) 1.4 litre FIRE petrol, 62kW (85bhp/87PS) 1.3 MultiJet2 diesel, and a 77kW (105bhp/107PS) 0.9 litre TwinAir petrol will be offered.

From 2013, the 500L will be destined for 100 countries around the world, including the United States.
