Nissan awards new car to organiser's friend (AU)

Nissan Australia's Facebook page has been taken over by complaints that a brand-new Micra supermini, worth $20,000AUD, was given way in a competition to the organiser's friend.

Nissan Australia awarded the car to Zac Martin, who is listed on Simon Oboler’s, Nissan customer experience channel co-ordinator, blog as his “BFF” – “best friend forever.”

Furthermore, a $1,250AUD runners-up prize was given to Nina Igel, one of Oboler’s Facebook friends. Nissan Australia anticipated some reaction and joked, “with all honesty and the best of intentions, we wish you hadn’t won.

“The reality is that he won fair and square and all is fully above board.”

But despite that, other entrants start making accusations. The contest regulations expressed that whoever found the most Micras distributed about on Facebook pages of shops, bars and entertainment venues was the winner.

An anonymous marketing expert believes the contest wasn't rigged because it was based on a quantitative result, not a subjective decision.

“There was a database that chose him as the correct winner because he engaged the most fully in the competition,” said the anonymous marketing expert.
