Renault has announced that it expects its Zoé electric supermini to outsell the market's first mass-produced compact family hatchback, the Nissan Leaf.
The bold claims come from Renault's anticipated production capacity figures of 150,000 units/year compared with Nissan's current 25,000 units/year for the Leaf.
Although, next year will see Nissan start production of the European-market Leaf in the UK, which should see over 200,000 units/year rolling off the production line. This would according to Nissan, push prices down for both the actual car and batteries.
The Zoé starts at €16,300, undercutting the Nissan Leaf considerably.
