Spied: 2013 Mitsubishi Mirage/Colt

Mitsubishi has begun testing the European-version of the new Mirage supermini on the roads of Germany.

Despite light disguise around the front and rear fascias, external modifications between the European and global models will be minor. Under the skin, the suspension, steering, and engine will be tweaked to suit European tastes, offering improved comfort, dynamism, and power.

Replacing the aging and slow-selling Colt, the European Mirage will be imported from Asia as the Japanese marque closes the doors on its Netherlands plant.

Like the Nissan Micra/March, the new Mirage will be aimed at those who are financially challenged and will be available with a 1.2 litre, three-cylinder petrol unit when it launches in Winter 2012. To improve efficiency, a stop/start system, low-resisting tyres, and regenerative braking will feature as standard.
