Video: Hyundai Sonata allegedly catches SUA

Don't you just hate it when your Hyundai Sonata starts accelerating automatically when you're waiting in traffic.

What! Wait, did you just say a Hyundai Sonata!?

Yes we did. This particular incident took place on Sunday 6th May 2012 in the South Korean city of Daegu in a 2009 Hyundai YF Sonata.

Unlike the alleged sticky accelorator issue Toyota was plagued with, the incident was captured with a dashboard camera. The 30-second long clip shows the Korean sedan stopped at a set of traffic lights when the vehicle appears to accelerate unexpectedly. At this point, we hear a conversation between the driver and passengers.

From there on, the sedan appears to accelerate uncontrollably with the driver passing several red lights, narrowly avoiding a few collisions only to end up rear-ending a stopped car at a speed of 117km/h (72mph) - at least according to the GPS data displayed on the video.

Korean media outlets have said that the Daegu Nambu Police are investigating the accident and has asked the National Institute of Scientific Investigation for help.
