Spied: 2014 Audi Q7

Testing is in full swing for Audi's next-generation Q7 large premium SUV, as spies got up-close and personal with a test mule undergoing cold-weather testing in Northern Sweden.

Using the current Q7 6.0 litre V12 TDi bodyshell, the mule is boasting beefier wheelarches, shorter overhangs, and a partial honeycomb air-intake.

The second-generation Q7 will be based on Volkswagen's new and flexible MQB platform, meaning the newcomer will be around 400kg (880lbs) lighter than the current model, thus reducing fuel consumption, emissions, and improving agility and dynamics.

Although powertrains and transmission details are scares, we imagine a hybrid or plug-in hybrid model to be available sometime after its market launch in 2014.
