Teaser: 2013 Kia K9/Oprius

Kia has released the first design sketches of its all-new flagship sedan, codenamed 'KH'.

Set to be launched in South Korea within the next few months, the KH is expected to be called either K9 or Oprius when it launches, although the final name is still being finalised.

External design has been described by Kia as “distinctive, modern and classic”. Prototypes of the KH have sported a dated-looking dashboard draped in leather, wood, metallic highlights, and plastics.

The Oprius will feature a multitude of luxury equipment,
such as LED headlights, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot
monitoring system, ventilated seats, electrically adjustable
steering column, upgraded surround sound, auto-dimming
mirrors, and a new infotainment system
Soon-Nam Lee, Kia’s Director of the Overseas Marketing Group, says, “Our all-new flagship sedan integrates all of our key capabilities such as design, performance, high-tech features and infotainment into one striking model.”

“Although launch timings for those overseas markets it will go to are yet to be confirmed, this all-new rear-wheel drive large sedan will definitely become the leading model of our global line-up, showcasing the best of the best of Kia.”

The newcomer will underpin the Hyundai Equus sedan, itself based on the Genesis sedan, making it Kia's first rear-wheel-drive passenger car. The KH will feature state-of-the-art technology and will employ a series of V6 and V8 petrol engines all mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.

Although launch dates for international markets have yet to be announced, Kia has confirmed that the newcomer won't be available in Europe.
