Cadillac to offer 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engines

With rapidly increasing fuel prices, premium car brands are taking a gamble by offering smaller capacity engines, so it seems Cadillac is the latest marque to cave in to pressure according to internal sources.

They noted the brand will be adding turbocharged 4-cylinder petrol engine in “a number of models” in the future.

The first models that will obtain the new powerplant will be the XTS large sedan, followed by the compact executive ATS sedan. The turbo engine will produce around 270bhp (266PS/201kW) and 339Nm (250lb-ft) of torque when it's mated to an 8 speed automatic. It is safe to presume that same engine and transmission will trickle into other models, including the upcoming CTS mid-size and SRX large crossover.
