With Mini's habit of turning concept cars into production vehicles, it comes as little surprise to learn the British-cum-German marque has given the 'thumbs-up' to the Rocketman concept.
Expected to launch in 2014, the entry-level model will keep some of its concept car features like its two-piece tailgate, 3+1 seating layout, and centre-mounted exhaust but will lose its futuristic styling and partial carbon-fibre door inserts.
Power will come from a range of newly-developed 3-cylinder petrol and diesel engines, in addition to a possible EV variant in 2016, although this hasn't been confirmed.
