Bugatti Galibier confirmed for production

Bugatti President, Wolfgang Dürheimer has confirmed in a recent interview that the all-wheel-drive Galibier uber-luxury vehicle will head for production in late 2012 and will feature an 8.0 litre 16-cylinder petrol engine that will develop from 789bhp (800PS/588kW) to 986bhp (1,000PS/735kW).

Crafted to become the "undisputed" leader in the luxury market and more practical than the Veyron, Bugatti is looking to sell around 1,000 – 1,500 units over the models life cycle.

Although the pricing structure has yet to be set, an executive has hinted the new model would cost from £875,000 (€1,000,000/$1,440,000). Additionally, the Galibier may be renamed to 'Royale', which was first used in the 1920's.
