Toyota RAV4 EV won't go on sale to public (U.S)

Update:

Toyota has confirmed that the RAV4 EV will available to the American public, however, when it brings the Scion iQ EV to the market, only this will be offered to fleet and car-sharing scheme customers.

According to recent reports, the Toyota RAV4 EV won't be available to the American masses.

Despite a scheduled 2012 U.S sale date, the RAV4 electric vehicle will be exclusively offered to car sharing schemes and fleets only. Tesla provided the same electric drivetrain, you would find in it's vehicle line-up, in the RAV4 EV.

Between 1996 and 2003, Toyota sold 1,900 electric RAV4’s, which was the worlds first vehicle to be powered by a nickel-metal hydride battery.
