The New York International Auto Show (NYIAS) will see Subaru premier the redesigned Impreza. Like the outgoing model, both four and five door variants will be offered with the new model being appearing to be a huge improvement over the older one.
Chrome highlights and muscular wheelarches lend the newcomer some elegance or blandness, depending on how you look at it. According to Subaru, the new Impreza will have a "roomier interior and improved levels of comfort and refinement."
A 2.0 litre petrol Boxer engine will power American models, which develops 146bhp (148PS/109kW) and 196Nm (145lb-ft) of torque. This should allow the compact car to achieve 36mpg (43.2mpg UK/6.5l/100km), which is apparently the best fuel economy figure of any all-wheel drive vehicle in the United States.
