Porsche has announced that the upcoming Cajun compact SUV will be produced in Leipzig, alongside the Cayenne and Panamera.
The company will expand the current plant to accommodate the Cajun, leading to an additional 1,000 jobs.
With the car launching in Winter 2012/Spring 2013, the construction of the body assembly line and paint shop will start later on this year.
Porsche claims the new Cajun will be “light and easy to handle”, with the firm hoping it will “pave the way for new, even younger customers to enter the world of Porsche”.
