SsangYong Korando pricing announced (UK)

With SsangYong making a big return to the British market in September, is comeback will be spearheaded by the all-new Korando compact SUV, which starts from £16,995 for the entry-level S 2WD.

Eyeing up the likes of the Kia Sportage, Mitsubishi ASX, Hyundai ix35, and Nissan Qashqai, the Korando will be powered by a gusty 175bhp (173PS/130kW) 2.0 litre diesel engine, that produces 360Nm (266lb-ft) of torque and emits 157g/km when mated to a 6-speed manual transmission.

Paul Williams, CEO of the UK importer, SsangYong Motor UK commented: “Korando is a great value proposition, and arrives in the highly competitive crossover market at absolutely the right time.

“Very keenly priced, a comprehensive list of standard equipment, excellent towing capability and thanks to its long wheelbase a spacious and airy interior, Korando is the clever choice for families and those who tow a caravan, horsebox or trailer.”

Three trim-levels will be available; S, ES, and EX with four-wheel-drive reserved for the EX range-topper. Standard equipment for the S will include 16” alloy wheels, roof-rails, leather steering wheel and gearknob, fabric seats w/driver's height/lumbar adjustment, rear parking sensors, 60/40 spilt folding rear seats, tinted glass, x4 electric windows, cruise control, audio controls w/tilt/telescopic steering wheel, air conditioning, electrically adjustable and heated door mirrors, 6 speaker audio system w/Bluetooth and MP3 input, x6 airbags, ESP, hill-start assist, and alarm w/immobiliser.

Mid-spec ES comes with 17” alloy wheels, privacy glass, climate control w/rear vents, electrically folding door mirrors, heated front and rear seats, sunroof, leather interior w/electrically adjustable front seats.

Range-topping EX adds tinted glass (auto only), rear spoiler, and four-wheel-drive.
