Audi Q7 refresh due in 2014, to be lighter

A report coming out from Britain suggests that Audi will launch the next-generation Q7 in Spring 2014. The new SUV will sit on the new MLB Evo architecture and will feature an aluminium bodyshell, which should help the vehicle shed 300kg (661lbs) to enhance fuel economy and performance.

A plug-in hybrid, using a 217bhp (220PS/162kW) 2.0 litre TFSI petrol unit and a 99bhp (100PS/74kW) electric motor may feature sometime in the future.

The all-new Q5 is set to bow in 2016, also sitting on light-weight MLB Evo platform. While details remain scares, the newcomer will lose 100kg (220lbs) from its kerb-weight. Later on, the Q6 will be launched. A Porsche Cajun-based Q4 coupé will hit dealerships in 2017, taking one of three directions; off-road, sport, or luxury. Beyond 2017, an entry-level Q1 will arrive.
